Tell us about your piece and how it represents the Country that you are from?
Our aim was to create a collage which looks like our traditional painting technique: Miniature. The composition has 5 elements in it. An Ottoman graphic pattern as the sky and a Turquoise water pattern as the background. We placed the Maiden Tower to define the water as Bosphorus. Also added the Tortoise Trainer character from a famous Turkish painter Osman Hamdi Bey. But this time he trains the dolphins of Bosphorus.
What was the most challenging part of the brief?
The most challenging part was to trying to reduce and simplify the elements of the collage to represent our country. Because the Turkish culture has over 1500 years history.
What part of the brief did you enjoy the most?
he idea of representing our country and our culture was very exciting for us.
How did you enjoy working with Excel Blades?
We are mostly creating 3D artworks. But the blades we are given were not suitable for creating 3D pieces. So we decided to create a 2D artwork which these knives worked perfectly. It’s so easy and fun to create incredible details on the paper with Excel Blade knives.
