Traditional Woodland Animals of Britain
Tell us about your piece and how it represents the Country that you are from?
My piece is of traditional woodland animals of Britain, including a Song Thrush, Harvest Mouse, Fox, Stag, Scottish Wild Cat and a Hare. It represents the traditional natural world of the United Kingdom which can be easily forgotten, these animals have all been found in our wilderness for centuries but some of them may not be around much longer.
What was the most challenging part of the brief?
Choosing the animals to represent where I live, there are so many more I could continue a whole series.
What part of the brief did you enjoy the most?
Being given the chance to explore what I would like to show as representing where I come from and live. My work is nature based and I enjoyed the opporunity to branch out into woodland creatures.
How did you enjoy working with Excel Blades?
I picked the Grip-on knife because I enjoyed the comfort of the handle, it didn’t rub or become uncomfortable like some handles do. The blades and the blade dispenser provided where really easy to use, you just have to be careful when twisting the handle open to release and replace the blades.
