Shoal
Tell us a little about your piece?
I wanted to make a shoal of fish and decided on mackerel because they have amazing patterns and the colours of the paper provided matched the colours of the fish. These are fish that continually on the move and growing up on the west coast of Scotland we would look forward to summer when the mackerel arrive and would be in our waters making them easy to catch. This wee fish holds a lot of great memories for me. While a lot of fish species are declining the mackerel still manages to survive in abundance, we need to care for our seas
What was the most challenging part of the brief?
Choosing an ocean creature to celebrate, there are so may amazing species in the sea
What part of the collaboration did you enjoy the most?
I enjoyed experimenting with a new paper.
How did you enjoy working with the paper?
It is more fibrous than im used to but worked well and was easy enough to cut, really great colours and a nice matt finish.
