Sustainable fishing
Tell us a little about your piece?
For World Ocean Day, I wanted to raise awareness of our impact on this vast space which is home to 80% of all life on earth. Dolphins, Whales, Sharks and large fish such as Blue Fin Tuna are killed in fishing nets every hour in fishing nets or over-fished almost to extinction. 3.9 billion acres of seafloor is deforested every year by trawling for our seafood. My paperart is to celebrate the amazing environment under the sea, but always keeping in mind our impact through commercial fishing.
What was the most challenging part of the brief?
The biggest challenge was making sure everything had enough detail, especially the coral.
What part of the collaboration did you enjoy the most?
I enjoyed creating a range of endangered and at risk sealife for this piece.
How did you enjoy working with the paper?
The paper colours were lovely to work with, bright and good range of tones, especially impressed for recycled papers.
