Tell us a little about your piece?

I wanted to make something that really showcases paper weaving, the way of working I love. Being in Northern Europe around Christmas time is very special, particularly in the snow! The natural, woven decorations we found in Sweden inspired my piece and I made this woven star as a celebration of a more natural Christmas.

What was the most challenging part of the brief?

I joined the project quite late and had to work quickly. This is one of the more complex weaves I have made and at times it was hard to remember which piece needed weaving next!

What part of the collaboration did you enjoy the most?

I loved making something more three dimensional. I usually weave into a piece of backing paper but I used to make more sculptural pieces and maybe this will be a return to more of this kind of work.

How did you enjoy working with the paper sent?

The paper was lighter weight than I usually work with but it cut beautifully. I was a little worried it might be too fragile to weave but actually it was tougher than it looked!
