Tell us a little bit about yourself?

I am inspired and comforted by the unspoiled surroundings of my home in the mountains of Scotland. I use paper to celebrate the fragile beauty found in the macroscopic landscapes of natural places.

Tell us a little bit about your interpretation of Paper Passion?

I am interested in how a simple piece of paper can communicate, without words, a message about our impact on the planet. I am lucky to live in a fairly unpolluted part of the world. It is crucial that we keep our environment healthy, and the air that we breathe clean. Our surroundings affect us as much as we affect it.

Tell us a little about your piece?

Lichen is often used as an indicator of air quality. I live in the Cairngorms in Scotland where the air is very clean and as such lichen grows easily and abundantly. When i received my paper i was struck by how white and pure it is so decided it would be perfect to communicate the beauty of a healthy environment and it's importance to our happiness and wellbeing.  "Breathe" is 23X33in

What was the most challenging part of the brief?

As the work is white on white, I found it quite tricky to get the light right when photographing the final piece.

What part of the brief did you enjoy the most?

I enjoyed the freedom to be creative with scale.

How did you enjoy working with Munken and Arctic Volume?

I found the paper brilliant to work with, very smooth to cut with a lovely clean finish..
