Digging into Paper
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
We are a paper artist duo from Istanbul.
We are creating paper sculptures, installations, stop motion videos, prop designs, and window displays on paper.
Tell us a little bit about your interpretation of Paper Passion?
All the time we want to try new techniques on paper and we like to encounter some challenges as they are giving opportunities for us to improve.
Also, one of the most crucial things that we care about is the ‘cycle of paper’. The first sketches are born on a sheet of paper, then digitalized and processed with computer, and printed out after preparing templates for handcrafting and for the last touches. So the process starts and ends on paper.
Tell us a little about your piece?
We came up with an idea of 'digging into paper' that represents our passion for paper.
So, we create a miner with scissors digging into the paper layers to fulfill his passion.
What was the most challenging part of the brief?
The brief was obvious enough but the fact that the subject was intangible, we spent time discussing what 'paper passion' means to us and how we reflect this on paper.
What part of the brief did you enjoy the most?
The best part of the brief was that it was open to different interpretations.
We combined two different techniques in this project. Low poly 3D and layered topography.
That was the challenging and fun part.
How did you enjoy working with Munken and Arctic Volume?
The texture and surface of the paper is really good for working.
Especially 600GSM uncoated paper is our favourite.
