Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I'm a Lebanese-Venezuelan paper artist and set designer based in Barcelona. I studied architecture and and have always been drawn to the more artistic side of things. I enjoy creating paper sculptures that have an emphasis on volume, texture and light.
Tell us a little bit about your interpretation of Paper Passion?
The idea of turning something so apparently simple as a sheet of paper into something completely different has always been fascinating for me. People tend to see paper as something "cheap" and maybe even flimsy, but I find it has so much structure and is so widley versatile to experiment with.
Tell us a little about your piece?
This piece was inspired by the Pink Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus Djamor) and all it's wonderful texture. Everything is hand drawn and cut freehand in the hopes of doing justice to it's natural curves. Photography: Leo Croma
What was the most challenging part of the brief?
For me the most difficult part was to try and showcase the difference between both papers that were used, the difference is quite sutle and hard to showcase through a photo, one is a lot smoother and one has a sutle texture to it.
What part of the brief did you enjoy the most?
The freedom for us all to create something different from the same a sheet of paper.
How did you enjoy working with Munken and Arctic Volume?
I always enjoy trying different papers as each paper behaves differently when cut and shaped, so you have to adapt to the paper which is always very interesting.
