Lavender 135gsm
Tell us a little about your piece?
This is a lace inspired piece. When I see purple, I think royal. I wanted to create something with this colour akin to the brocades worn by noblewomen in medieval times. Strong, regal, confident. Fearless. But as I cut came to realise how truly fragile lace is. How it is a sum of all its parts. Take one part away and the rest falls to pieces. Lace gives an illusion of grandeur while it is in reality quite vulnerable. Yet in manages to hold through centuries, and I find something very poetic about that.

What was the most challenging part of the brief?
It was definitely difficult to photograph light lavender without and contrasting colours being involved.

What part of the brief did you enjoy the most?
I really enjoyed getting surprised by paper I had no experience with. I loved the colour, and definitely look forward to using it more in the future!
