Dancing faces
Tell us a little about your piece?
This piece is a repetition of the same face. She represents a vintage Balinese dancer, with ornaments on her head. I wanted to create a contrast between the figurative part of the face and the random abstract parts of her headdress which when combine together created patterns on their own. I used my own handmade papers as backgrounds to give an authenticity and vintage vibe.
What was the most challenging part of the brief?
I wanted to challenge myself to create a pattern including a face, as it is my specialty.
What part of the collaboration did you enjoy the most?
The repetition. By cutting the same thing again and again, I witnessed that my hand memorized the cutting pattern.
How did you enjoy working with Excel Blades, tools?
I enjoyed working with the K30 Rite-Cut knife because it is a light tool. In fact, it the lighter tool I ever use to date. I first was surprise of the very light weight and then enjoyed it to the fullest!
