Swirling Abstract

Tell us a little about your piece?

My piece is a repeated swirling pattern with opaque blocks. The pieces overlap and swirl into each other. I wanted to create the illusion where you can't tell which lines are on top or bottom, and confuse the eye when following the various lines..

What was the most challenging part of the brief?

I usually cut most of my patterns freehand - but I wanted to create a piece based on a pattern that I drew out beforehand. The longer lines were difficult for me to cut sticking to the drawn out pattern!

What part of the collaboration did you enjoy the most?

I really enjoyed trying out this new style, and creating something more abstract that my usual pieces.  It has given me the idea for a series of abstract pieces that I plan to create next.

How did you enjoy working with Excel Blades, tools?

Excel has always been my choice for blades to use so those weren't new to me. I had never tried using the tweezers and I absolutely loved it. I've been using them now for other pieces and for tasks around the studio!
