The Willow Pattern

Tell us a little about your piece?

I studied Textiles so pattern has always been part of my work and style. I wanted to do something different and not just a repeat pattern so I looked in to my favourite theme, blue and white ceramics. Blue and White is a go to colour combination for me and synonymous with the Chinese Willow Pattern..

What was the most challenging part of the brief?

I guess for me it was choosing what to create as I love pattern so much. I originally wanted to create a Toile Du Jouy but time constraints made me decide it was a project for another time..

What part of the collaboration did you enjoy the most?

I always love being set a challenge but this was especially enjoyable because of the subject matter. Since creating this piece it has made me want to start a collection of decorative plate paper illustrations..

How did you enjoy working with Excel Blades, tools?

I'm a bit set in my ways when it comes to tools but it was great trying new blades and I especially loved the turquoise handle I was sent. The tweezers will definitely be assisting my papercutting from now on. The variety of blades were really helpful as one I was sent was great for cardboard and thicker weights, no longer will I have to struggle! It's definitely made me interested to try the swivel and the cushion grip knives. Cheers Excel!
