Tell us a little about your piece?

My work is always inspired by nature and I spent some time looking to nature to find her patterns. At first I was looking for the obvious patterns, such as the center of the sunflower or an intricate succulent plant but then I started to really think about what pattern meant, it is defined as a 'repeated decorative design' and I began to realise that nature is full of repeated designs, such as the symmetry to a bird wing, the repeat of the wing feathers OR the repeated symmetry to a butterfly wing. I then knew that I wanted to incorporate all these elements into my final design and decided to repeat my design only twice like the symmetry often found within nature.

What was the most challenging part of the brief?

All my artwork is hand cut from a piece of paper that I have drawn on in pencil, I don't use machines or templates so the hardest part was making 2 pieces identical such as the butterfly and the blue tit birds.

What part of the collaboration did you enjoy the most?

I adore working on collaborative briefs with the Paper Artist Collective, it is so fascinating to see how varied everyone's pieces are considering we are all given the same brief.

How did you enjoy working with Excel Blades, tools?

This is my second collaboration with Excel and have I been using their scalpels and blades since the first one. I was particularly thrilled with the excel tweezers, they put my previous tweezers to shame.
